Tips For Fuller Longer Hair

Hi, let me start by first introducing myself. My name is Kelly I am 24 and I am hair obsessed! I am not a professional hair stylist by any means but I do know a lot about hair. I guess I consider myself an enthusiast lol.

So now that I have gotten the introduction out of the way let me tell you a little about the hair type I am most informed on because it is my own; Blonde.

Believe it or not all hair colors are not considered equal. Different natural hair colours come with different qualities. Blonde hair is usually very fine in texture but it has more hair follicles per square inch than most other hair colours. This causes the hair to become oily and fall flat quicker than other hair colours.

Even though blondes have the most hair, it is usually very fine and light. This is my main problem with my hair. Since it is so fine, it breaks very easily so the hair appears to be thinner than other hair colors. I am in the process of growing my hair out at the moment and man is it a pain. It takes a lot of patience and a lot of trims when it's breaking all the time.

So let me get into some tips that I have found helpful for growing my hair out and making it feel fuller in no particular order unless I say so lol:

1.Conditon

Probably the most important component for growing out your hair. You have to make sure it stays moisturized. Dry hair = breakage = more trims. Use a really good deep conditioning mask try The Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Masque.
 2. Shampoo

Try to use a shampoo that is sulfate free. Most shampoos contain sulfates this is what makes it lather and feel like it's cleaning your hair. What it is really doing is stripping your hair of its natural oils and doing more damage than good for your hair. Usually shampoo's will openly advertise that they are sulfate free but there are professional brands such as Pureology that can be quite pricey but well worth it. There are also drug store brands such as L'Oreal Ever Pure that are available

3. Moroccanoil

This is my favorite hair product hands down! It does not weigh the hair down and it even comes in a light version for fine hair! This is an oil that really helps to smooth the hair and moisturize the ends. I like to use it when I get out of the shower especially on the ends of my hair to really help the dryness. It also comes as Argan Oil which is less expensive but I feel nothing compares exactly to the Moroccanoil. You can also use this on your dry hair to tame the frizzies and define curls!
4.Leave in conditioner

My favourite leave in conditioner is Chi Keratin Mist. I feel it leaves my hair smooth and healthy looking. I recommend using a leave in conditioner especially extra dry hair just to add that extra moisture.
5.Heat Protection

Today there are incredible amount of heat tools and the possibilities are endless! Unfortunately these things are not as good at helping our hair as it is hurting it. So whenever we use heat (blow dry, straightener, curling iron etc...) We must protect ourselves! I like to use the Schwarzkopf got2b Guardian Angel 425 F heat protect 'n blow dry lotion, and the 425 F Heat protect 'n curl spray.

6. Pump Up The Volume!

Since my hair is so fine I have to use a volume spray or mousse or both lol. It really makes all the difference in my hair in the feel and texture so it doesn't just fall flat and feel like baby hair! My choices are the Joico Body Luxe Design Foam for volume and thickness and the Chi Volume Booster liquid bodifying glaze. I put both these throughout my whole head and ut

7. Blowdry!

One of the most important things to volume is blow drying. Especially for fine hair, this is one of the only sure fire ways to get volume. Most of these products don't do much without some blow dry action! The heat from the blow dryer swells the cuticle making the hair feel fuller. I don't have a favorite blow dryer to be honest, any one that blow's out hot air should do.

8. Dry Shampoo

What is that?! It is not good to wash your hair everyday. You really don't want to dry your hair out more than needed. I know I keep saying this but it is especially hard when you have fine hair not to wash it every day because it is so easy to fall flat. Dry shampoo is in an aerosol can. It spray's out a powdery substance that you apply directly to your roots that second day when your hair starts to get oily or fall flat. It instantly brings back the volume and gets rid of the oily look! A good quick tip is if you have no dry shampoo, use a bit of baby powder to soak up the excess oil! I don't have a favorite and they usually smell powdery so I opt for the cheapo which is Batiste Dry Shampoo Original.

Well that is my go to list! I know it seems like a lot but I gotta do what I gotta do to get my hair feeling full and healthy! I hope you found this helpful because I have struggled with having no volume for a while and have finally found a system that works for me!
I'll talk to you guys soon!
